Haïm – In the Light of a Violin is a theatrical and musical show that retraces the true story of Haïm Lipsky – a Polish Jew born in 1922 into a poor working-class family, who became a passionate violinist, and survived the hell of the death camps thanks to music.

This musical tale, mixing classical pieces and klezmer melodies, is a testimony of survival through art, of hope preserved in the heart of darkness, and of the importance of musical heritage.

On stage, his life-story is emotionally expressed by Mélanie Doutey (two-time-nominee for the César-award for Most Promising Actress) and a musical quartet: the virtuoso violinist Yaïr Benaïm, the international classical concert pianist Dana Ciocarlie, and the striking klezmer duo The Mentshs, Alexis Kune and Samuel Maquin.

French writer and director Gerald Garutti returns to the Print Room after his successful production in October 2014 of Notes From Underground, directed by him and starring Harry Lloyd.

During its numerous performances in Paris, and on tour in France and Switzerland, Haïm has been a public and critical triumph. It has moved and animated audiences, leading to full houses, unreserved standing ovations and critical acclaim.
