Exhibition: Inside Story

We are delighted to be working with Gavin Turk and HMP Brixton on a special exhibition, which will take place alongside our production of Jean Genet’s Deathwatch.

The project takes its inspiration from Jean Genet’s own history of imprisonment. Having spent a significant part of his early life in French prisons, Genet went on to become one of the most important French artists of last century. Artist Gavin Turk has had work exhibited by major galleries and museums throughout the world. Gavin recently spent a morning at HMP Brixton talking to the prisoners about his work, after which they were asked to submit their own artwork for consideration for the exhibition. Artistic Director Anda Winters and Gavin have chosen twenty of the prisoners’ pieces.
